Our application form is now available in French!
This development is part of a long-term collaboration with Francophone communities and local open access stakeholders, notably Érudit (since 2020) and Mir@bel, through the Mir@bel2022 project (2022–2025), which strengthens the indexing and international visibility of French scientific journals. It also relies on our multilingual collaborations with Research4Life, particularly in French, through exchanges and webinars designed to meet the support needs of research communities in different languages.
These partnerships have led to concrete progress: the translation of key resources into French, including the Guide to applying (in collaboration with Érudit), as well as the organization of training sessions and webinars dedicated to DOAJ in French. Thanks to DOAJ’s premium metadata service, Mir@bel accesses detailed data daily, which allows for closer monitoring of the evolution of French journal indexing in DOAJ and improvement of metadata quality through joint curation work.
Today, this dynamic reaches a new milestone.
With a new application form in French, DOAJ now offers a simple but important choice: users can submit their application in English or French. This evolution directly facilitates access to the indexing process for Francophone communities.
Its implementation required significant development and technical coordination to integrate the translations and ensure a consistent experience across the platform.
In line with our goal of making the DOAJ application more accessible and more equitable, we are concretely strengthening the openness of the application process to Francophone communities.
