DOAJ is a community-led organisation, and relies on ongoing and collective community support to ensure our sustainability. Our services are an important part of many processes and operations worldwide. Our data is used for teaching, research and tools and systems. We are also recognised within policy frameworks, and provide quality assurance to those who publish open access, or seek open research articles.
For more than 23 years, DOAJ has been both a visible and invisible part of the scholarly publishing community. We remain committed to continuing to develop in line with community needs for many years to come. Our continued success depends on the generosity, expertise, and commitment of our global community, and we sincerely thank all those who help sustain DOAJ and its mission.
Thank you to all our existing, new and returning library supporters
We are grateful to all the libraries, publishers, funders and data aggregators that chose to invest in DOAJ this year. Some have invested for the first time in 2026, while others have continued to support us year after year. This year, we welcomed two consortia from Germany: Helmholtz, with 16 new library supporters and Niedersachsen-Konsortium with 12 new library supporters.

Premium Metadata Service and new supporter benefits
In March 2026, we launched the Premium Metadata Service, which will become a supporter benefit for 2027. In addition, we have added new supporter benefits for 2027, including:
- Invitation to Annual DOAJ Town Hall meeting with early access to Annual Highlights
- Access to DOAJ’s Supporter Pack
- Name on the Institutional and Library Supporter list on DOAJ’s website
An opportunity for libraries to strengthen their investment
From 2027 onwards, we have introduced a new option for those who wish to invest further in DOAJ. New and existing supporters can support at the standard Sustaining level, or upgrade their support to the Sustaining Plus model. This new model includes three tiers, where libraries can support at the level of their choosing. The additional investment will enable DOAJ to do even more to support open access journals worldwide.
