le DOAJ and Latindex are pleased to announce a new partnership which will enhance the discoverability of Ibero-American journals, mostly published in Spanish and Portuguese.
This partnership has three main objectives. First, to collaborate in the indexing of Ibero-American journals in DOAJ and Latindex through the exchange of information on journals not yet indexed in both databases. Second, to share information on evidence and methodologies for the identification of journals with suspicious practices. And third, to jointly host courses, workshops and other academic events in Ibero-America on the identification of suspicious practices. The duration of the project will be 12 months, starting in September 2025.
Latindex is the most comprehensive information system of scientific journals published in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, as well as journals with Ibero-American content published outside the region. It offers three information services: 1) Directory, with bibliographic data and contact information. 2) Catalog, consisting of journals that meet the highest quality standards. And 3) Article Finder, which offers access to articles and full-text documents published in the journals that are listed in the Catalog.
The Latindex Directory contains information on almost 30,000 journals, published in multiple languages. The Latindex 2.0 Catalog contains some 3,800 journals and its application form follows indexing criteria very similar to those of DOAJ. We hope that this project will contribute to expanding the visibility and discoverability of Ibero-American journals.
