Important changes to our metadata, which were shared on the blog in January, have now gone live. This includes the retirement of the Seal.
Back in January, we shared two blog posts about the results of a community consultation we did in 2024. The data collected from the consultation allowed us to make changes to our metadata. We decided to stop displaying some links, remove two questions from our application form, and retire the Seal.
These changes went live on 8th April 2025.
We realise that some journal managers/editors/publishers might need help explaining to their communities why the Seal no longer appears against their journal in DOAJ. We have prepared an information sheet that can help guide your discussions.
As always, we are eager to hear your feedback and questions. Leave a comment here or get in touch: blog@doaj.org.
