We are pleased to announce the formation of the DOAJ Advisory Board, an important new part of our governance structure, which supplements the Foundation Board launched earlier this year.

The Advisory Board will ensure that DOAJ benefits from broad representation, community insight and advice. Its members will provide input to both the Foundation Board and the DOAJ Team, helping to guide our strategic direction and ensure that our services continue to meet the needs of the global scholarly communication community.

We were overwhelmed by the response to our call for applications: over 130 individuals from across the world expressed their interest in joining the Board. We are grateful to everyone who put themselves forward for their commitment to our work.

The Board comprises 27 members from 20 countries. Advisory Board members were selected by the Foundation Board to ensure broad geographical coverage as well as a spread across DOAJ’s stakeholder groups: libraries, researchers, publishers of different types, research funders and users of our metadata.

The Advisory Board will hold its first meeting in September. We look forward to working with them to strengthen our mission: increasing the visibility, accessibility and quality of open access research worldwide.
