DOAJ has been an active member of OASPA (a membership organisation for open access publishers) for many years.

One of the many outstanding events hosted by OASPA is their annual conference. With travel restrictions in place, the conference went online and, well, it flourished!

Last year’s conference was probably one of the most diverse events that I had ever attended and this year’s promises to be as good!

Here is a guest post from one of the conference organisers, Bernie Folan, OASPA’s Communications, Engagement and Outreach Manager.

The OASPA (Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association) annual conference takes place online next week over three days – 21-23 September.  We have an excellent program and look forward to welcoming many participants from around the world so please join us and bring your questions and point of view. Registration is via Eventbrite.

The 2021 online conference (Designing 21st Century Knowledge Sharing Systems) will address many timely and fundamental topics relating to open scholarly communication and also offer a forum for collective reflection on the ongoing impact of the pandemic and our endeavours to ensure scholarship is open and accessible to all to address all current and future challenges.

The event will include keynotes, discussions, panels, and feedback sessions as well as lightning poster talks. Delegates and speakers will also have access to a dedicated conference Slack space to meet each other, ask questions and discuss the sessions.

We think the conference will be of interest to many working in scholarly communication and we don’t want cost to be a barrier to anyone who wishes to attend. If you are unfunded, please contact events@oaspa.org for the waiver code.

We hope to see you there!

Bernie Folan
