DOAJ is pleased to announce a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNPIEC) to establish a joint DOAJ China Open Access Journal Pre-evaluation Working Group. The purpose of this working group is to provide greater support to Chinese journals and to promote the inclusion of high-quality open access journals from China in DOAJ.
Under the MoU, the working group will offer Chinese journals the opportunity to undergo pre-evaluation, receiving targeted feedback for improvement, recommendations on selection, and training to facilitate their smooth entry into the DOAJ formal application process. This initiative not only provides Chinese journals with a specialized and efficient pathway to application but also strengthens the platform for academic exchange between China and the international community.
“We are delighted to see the continued growth of open access and open access journals in China,” said Joanna Ball, DOAJ’s Managing Director. “This collaboration with CNPIEC will provide Chinese open access journals with quality assurance and greater international visibility through DOAJ indexing, but also support the continued improvement of publication standards. We look forward to working together to help more high-quality Chinese journals join the index.”
Ms. Lin Liying, President of CNPIEC, stated: “Open access represents a significant global trend in academic publishing. This collaboration marks a crucial step in CNPIEC’s proactive implementation of China’s strategy to promote its academic achievements internationally. We will leverage our strengths in international journal dissemination, resource integration, and service provision to actively engage in global academic governance alongside DOAJ, building an open and inclusive knowledge-sharing ecosystem.”
