When Plan S’ Journal Checker Tool (JCT) launches, some publishers might want to make sure that their journals’ entries in DOAJ include the most up-to-date information and, if not, submit updates to us. If you think that Plan S affects your journals, then here is how to submit an update.
For publishers with twenty or more journals in DOAJ
Over the next few days, we will email a CSV file to a selection from the 54 largest publisher accounts. This file will contain a copy of your journal records, as they are in DOAJ today. You must check each field in the file and make updates where appropriate. For its first iteration, the JCT is using DOAJ to check for licensing information so you should check that the licensing information is correct, at the very least.
Once we receive the file back from you, we will check it against your journals’ websites, correct it if necessary and then load it into the database. The live journals records will be updated immediately.
For publishers with less than twenty journals in DOAJ or for those who wish to update individual titles
- After our new site launches, log in to your account. You will need your username and password.
- Go to ‘My journals’ where you will see a list of the journals associated with your account. (If a journal is not there, then it has either been withdrawn from DOAJ or it is associated with another account. Contact us with the journal’s title and ISSN for more information.)
- Each journal has an ‘Update’ button or ‘Submit an update’ link. Click this to make your update.
Since our application form is changing, you should wait until the new site goes live.
Updates are reviewed by our Editorial Team. If the journal record hasn’t been updated for more than 2 years then we will review the entire record. If we find any discrepancies, we will contact you to make changes.
These instructions will also be published on the new website when it launches.
