DOAJ is pleased to announce a new agreement with the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) which will provide an easy route for 55 academic libraries across South Carolina to support DOAJ.

There is a growing understanding amongst the US library community of the role libraries can play in providing financial support for community-led open infrastructure as a public good. This agreement between DOAJ and PASCAL is an important step in securing the future sustainability of DOAJ.

PASCAL Executive Director, Rick Moul, stated “We are excited to offer our members the opportunity to support DOAJ through PASCAL. Since DOAJ vetted journals can be activated as a single collection in our shared Alma system, libraries can feel confident that the journals they are making accessible are of high quality. This is particularly important to our many smaller member libraries. Making sure the DOAJ can continue this work is important to both PASCAL and its member libraries.”

“PASCAL institutions are heavy users of DOAJ’s metadata through their shared discovery service, and also refer their users to DOAJ as a source of trusted journals. We are therefore delighted to partner with PASCAL to enable libraries in South Carolina to support our mission to provide quality assurance and visibility to open access journals” says Joanna Ball, DOAJ Managing Director.
