{"id":1090,"date":"2016-12-23T13:53:36","date_gmt":"2016-12-23T11:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doajournals.wordpress.com\/?p=1090"},"modified":"2016-12-23T13:53:36","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T11:53:36","slug":"update-on-reapplications-and-new-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.doaj.org\/fr\/2016\/12\/23\/update-on-reapplications-and-new-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Update on reapplications and new applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">In March 2014 DOAJ implemented much more detailed <a style=\"color:#000000\" href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/publishers\">criteria<\/a> for listing, which enabled DOAJ to provide granular information enabling universities, research funders and governments to check journals for compliance with Open Access policy and mandate requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">This led to a reapplication process that was a necessary step towards ensuring that all journals in DOAJ (of which there were about 10000) met the stricter criteria.\u00a0The criteria were produced as a response to the\u00a0increasing\u00a0demands\u00a0from various stakeholders about transparency of open access journals\u00a0and to retain DOAJ\u2019s relevancy and importance for the stakeholders in open access publishing.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">During the last 32 months DOAJ has accepted 3,700 journals, rejected 6,500 applications, monitored journals on a daily basis, removed 1,450 journals and delisted 2,850 journals for not re-applying to stay indexed. DOAJ also receives more than 300 new applications per month.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"yj6qo ajU\">\n<div id=\":379\" class=\"ajR\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ajT\" src=\"https:\/\/ssl.gstatic.com\/ui\/v1\/icons\/mail\/images\/cleardot.gif\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\">\n<div><span style=\"color:#000000\">This large number of reapplications and new applications is taking longer to process than we had envisaged and the team at DOAJ are doing our best to handle them promptly and efficiently.
