We help researchers, libraries, and research funders identify trusted open access research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DOAJ is a mission-driven, non-profit foundation registered in Denmark. We are a small, fully remote organisation with colleagues across Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. Our team brings together publishers, librarians, and academics committed to making research more open and equitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the role<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are looking for an experienced, proactive individual to develop and maintain DOAJ\u2019s relationships with libraries and library consortia internationally, ensuring we secure the sustainable investment we need to continue delivering our mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working closely with the DOAJ\u2019s Managing Director and Head of Community &amp; Communications, you will communicate our mission and services to library audiences, develop new relationships and bring the perspectives and needs of the academic library community into our work. You will also support DOAJ\u2019s advocacy, outreach and representation within the library and scholarly communications communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role is at least 30 hours per week and is fully remote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Library Engagement Manager has responsibilities in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Library engagement and relationships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will build and maintain relationships with academic and research libraries, library consortia and library networks internationally, identify opportunities to reach new audiences, and gather feedback and intelligence to inform DOAJ\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Securing library investment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will communicate with existing and prospective library supporters, including supporting our renewal process, maintaining an overview of supporter opportunities and progress in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and working with colleagues on relevant administration and documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Outreach, advocacy and representation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will represent DOAJ in meetings, webinars, conferences and other engagement activities by preparing and giving presentations and communications for library audiences. You will also represent DOAJ in relevant library, scholarly communications and open access organisations, networks, working groups and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will also monitor developments in academic libraries, scholarly communications and open access and have the opportunity to contribute to DOAJ\u2019s wider communications and advocacy activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About you<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are a driven, confident relationship-builder who enjoys working with people and organisations. You are proactive, organised and comfortable representing an organisation internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You enjoy working collaboratively in a small international team and building relationships across cultures and time zones. You understand the importance of trusted information, openness and equitable access to research, and share our belief that research should be open and available to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Essential requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DeYou have:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant professional experience in or with academic or research libraries, scholarly communications, open access or a related field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven experience developing and maintaining professional relationships and networks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven experience communicating with a range of audiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and proactively drive tasks and projects forward.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong written and spoken English communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Desirable experience<\/strong> and knowledge<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An understanding of libraries&#8217; motivations and decision-making processes for investing in open infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in open access, scholarly publishing or open infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience of advocacy, community engagement or partnership development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience supporting fundraising or supporter relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience of working internationally or in a remote organisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We offer<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The opportunity to contribute to a globally recognised open infrastructure organisation that is helping to make research more open and equitable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A high degree of trust, autonomy and responsibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexible remote working with colleagues across the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The opportunity to build relationships with libraries and scholarly communications organisations internationally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A collaborative and supportive working environment where your ideas and initiative are valued.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compensation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Managing Director will agree on the level of compensation upon appointment.
