{"id":1919,"date":"2018-01-30T12:26:34","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T11:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.doaj.org\/?p=1919"},"modified":"2025-09-15T07:18:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T07:18:06","slug":"doaj-launches-the-doaj-best-practice-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.doaj.org\/de\/2018\/01\/30\/doaj-launches-the-doaj-best-practice-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"DOAJ launches the DOAJ Best Practice Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOAJ has launched the DOAJ Best Practice Guide.<\/p>\n<p>The Guide is a web resource that provides\u00a0<strong>selection criteria, resources and tools<\/strong>\u00a0for the<strong>\u00a0identification<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>reputable open access journals<\/strong>\u00a0to support researchers, publishers and librarians in their search of best practice and transparency standards.\u00a0It is also an attempt to collect discussions about open access to publications and its development.\u00a0It is developed by, and updated regularly by, the DOAJ team based on existing and new information.<\/p>\n<p>The Guide complements the work of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/about#ambassadors\">the DOAJ Ambassadors<\/a>\u00a0as well as academics, librarians and publishers worldwide. Based on the information provided on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/publishers\">For Publishers page<\/a>\u00a0on the DOAJ website and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/bestpractice\">Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing<\/a>, the Guide aims to do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Highlight issues surrounding\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/faq#predatory\">questionable publishing practices<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Provide a checklist of criteria to help identify questionable publishers based on guidelines for editors working with applications to DOAJ;<\/li>\n<li>Identify other tools that assist in making informed decisions on where to submit articles for publication, based on the <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkchecksubmit.org\/\">ThinkCheckSubmit initiative<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Contain case studies and examples gathered by DOAJ over 13 years of operation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Initial work with the Best Practice Guide was funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idrc.ca\/\">IDRC<\/a>\u00a0 as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.doaj.org\/de\/2016\/06\/20\/presenting-the-doaj-ambassadors\/\">Ambassadors&#8217; programme.<\/a> If you know of other resources that should be included in the Guide, then do please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doajbestpracticeguide.org\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>\u00a0or leave a comment here.<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOAJ has launched the DOAJ Best Practice Guide.
